RESPONSE
I have the privilege of serving the 9th District, Eastern Region of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, as
Rear Commodore of Response. My staff “Team Marine Domain Awareness”, also supports the other Rear Commodore and
her staff known as “Team Recreational Boating Safety”. Together we gather information and pass it up to the Vice
Commodore and on to the Commodore.
The Maritime Domain Awareness Team consists of five District Staff Officers, they are;
DSO-OP L.Wargo Sr. PDCO - Operations
DSO-CM J.Just - Communications
DSO-MS V. Reker - Marine Safety
DSO-AN Open - Aids to Navigation
DSO-AV R. Fratangelo - Aviation
Our team mission is to assist our members and above all the boating public in Air and Surface Operations by
conducting safety, recon, regatta, and harbor patrols. Also we are continuing to improve radio communication
a long our northern shorelines. We also keep a close watch on our Navigational Aids in the Ninth District.
I also am the Legislative Liaison to the State of Ohio. I have the pleasure of working with the State of Ohio
Division of Watercraft personnel. We keep on top of any changes coming down in laws and legal requirements from
the State of Ohio.
The Coast Guard Auxiliary is one of the finest groups of volunteers that strive to meet America’s changing safety
and security challenges, through Marine Domain Awareness and Recreational Boating Safety.
I would like to extend an invitation to anyone that interested in Boating and Safety on the water to to
join us: THE 9th DISTRICT, EASTERN REGION of the UNITED STATES COAST GUARD AUILIARY.
